Two neighborhood parks – Collier Park and Harwell Heights Park – are situated close to home. A handful of additional parks are within a ten-mile radius of Old Gordon. Both Collier and Harwell Heights Parks offer plenty of open space, playgrounds and walking trails. Collier Park recently underwent significant renovations, which included a new preschool playground and the first outdoor fitness stations in the Atlanta metro area.

For local shopping, Old Gordon residents head a few miles southeast to the Collier Heights Plaza Shopping Center and the Westridge Shopping Center, which offer a variety of shopping and dining options.

The Adamsville Recreation Center is also situated near this retail area; this popular indoor recreation facility offers an Olympic-sized swimming pool, kiddie pools and dance studios, among other amenities. Karate and dance classes, basketball and other sports programs, as well as weight training are offered here. Also in this area are the Adamsville – Collier Heights Library and the Cascade Family Skating center.
