Horseshoe Community in Fulton Country is located off of Cascade Road SW. In 2007 the neighborhood applied for annexation into the city of Atlanta and was accepted. Horseshoe Community is a modest but comfortable community with a friendly atmosphere. Horseshoe Community is located near I-285 so residents have quick access to downtown Atlanta and all of its attractions, restaurants, shopping and other amenities. Additionally, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is just a short drive from the neighborhood. Another local landmark is Fort McPherson.

Neighborhood schools include Connally Elementary School, Venetian Hills Elementary School, Young Middle School, and Benjamin E. Mays High School. Private schools are Renaissance Montessori School and International Preparatory Institute.

Local golf courses include the historic Alfred Tup Holmes Golf Course. The golf course is the site of a Civil War battlefield and is named after the man who fought to desegregate golf courses in the 1950s. The course features rolling hills and many elevation changes.

Adams Park is a city park in the neighborhood and it features a large pavilion with a grill, 3 picnic shelters, a playground, a swimming pool, softball and football fields, 4 lighted tennis courts, and little league fields.

Cascade Springs Nature Preserve is the highlight of the neighborhood. The preserve is one of the oldest urban forests in the city limits. The historic park is the site of the Civil War Battle of Utoy Creek. It is also the site of the Native American Sandtown trail. The trail connected the Stone Mountain area with the border of Alabama. The park is 120 acres and boasts extensive trails, abundant wildlife and an outdoor auditorium. The springs at the park are reputed to have healing and restorative properties.
