Bakers Ferry is a neighborhood in Atlanta, Georgia. The border of the neighborhood is Bakers Ferry Road SW to the south. There are only a few streets in this neighborhood — Corina Lane, Le Conte Highway SW and Clement Drive SW, and Bakers Ferry Road. The Bakers Ferry neighborhood is located west of downtown Atlanta.

Bakers Ferry is a very rural area. It has been hit very hard by the economy. There are homes that have been left unfinished, homes being foreclosed on, and homes that are being auctioned. It is a good time to find a good deal in this neighborhood.

The Bakers Ferry neighborhood is located conveniently for getting into downtown Atlanta. Interstate 20 is just a short distance north of the neighborhood. Fulton County Brown Field Airport is located close to the neighborhood, as well. There is bus service within walking distance.

L.P. Miles Elementary School is in the Bakers Ferry neighborhood. Their motto is “We’re miles above the rest” and they try very hard to live up to that motto. Miles Elementary has been recognized as a Title I Distinguished School in Georgia. Children in Kindergarten through grade 5 attend this school. Lenora Precious Miles gave her name to this school, but it was originally called the Bethlehem Church School. It is a historically significant school. It was founded in 1907 as the first school in the area for students of African-American decent.

There is no shopping here, nor are there commercial enterprises in the Bakers Ferry neighborhood. There are a lot of restaurants and shops just a short distance away on Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive SW at Adamsville. There are fast food restaurants, including Church’s Chicken and KFC.
