Andrew Duda came to this area in 1912 from Czechoslovakia along with his family. He started a celery farm and it became one of the world’s largest family-owned businesses in agriculture. Now the children and grandchildren of Mr. Duda are using that same great initiative and foresight to put together a community that has become known as the Town of Viera. Viera in the Slovakian language means “faith.” This dream started in the early 1980s and now Viera, Florida has over 19,000 residents and has about 8,090 homes. It is packed with golf courses, lakes, nature trails, and wildlife habitats.
The Manatees minor league baseball team call Viera home and the Washington Nationals MLB team have their spring training here as well. The Brevard Zoo is also in Viera, boasting more than 550 animals with over 165 species from 5 continents.
Shopping at the Avenue Viera is an outdoor shopping experience made for all ages. It is filled with restaurants, a movie theater, and some big-name shops.
Golfers love to play at Duran, right in the heart of Viera. This is a very challenging yet relaxing course with a full restaurant. There is also a par-3 course that is lighted and open until 10pm nightly.
