Woodgate Apartments for Rent
Located about a mile from Interstate 10 off Thomasville Road lies the Tallahassee neighborhood of Woodgate. Begun in 1970, this neighborhood has grown significantly since then, more than tripling in size to about 300 homes today.
Children in the neighborhood attend Kate Sullivan Elementary School, Cobb Middle School, or Leon High School. Residents have easy access to medical services and shopping centers as well.
This warm and welcoming community with an active neighborhood association offers residents a feeling of belonging from the moment they arrive and receive their basket of freshly baked goods and fruit upon moving in. The Woodgate community continues its outreach with a Facebook page, community events, and pride that has resulted in making Woodgate a very desirable neighborhood in which to live.
The outstanding nature of Woodgate has been recognized by its many awards as “Neighborhood of the Year.” It has won this honor from Leon County, from the City of Tallahassee, and twice from the Council of Neighborhood Associations over the years.
Among some of the many events the Woodgate Neighborhood Association sponsors are season events such as an Easter Egg Hunt, Fall Chili Supper, a Luminaria Display during the winter holidays, and a Christmas Open House. In addition it organizes a garage sale and clean-up days. The most famous neighborhood event comes in June with its annual Woodgate Day, which began in 1976 and has continued ever since.
Woodgate Day is the best attended community event and features a free pancake breakfast, parade, games, and activities. It concludes with a barbecue dinner, which is often attended by local city and county government officials.
The neighbors of Woodgate also sponsor the Woodgate Neighborhood Outreach Program to help families within their own community who need assistance. There is also a Problem Resolution Service offered.
