The community of Westover, in northwest Tallahassee, is situated just north of I-10, between Highway 263 on the west and Mission Road on the east.

Westover lies just minutes east of the Ochlockonee River Wildlife Management Area, part of the nearly 20,000 square feet Lake Talquin State Forest. Most of the WMA area is hardwood forest, swamps, and pines with the Ochlockonee River forming the western boundary. This area is very popular with the locals for deer and squirrel hunting.
Northwest of Westover lies Lake Jackson, a lake used primarily for water recreation and wildlife viewing. Adjacent to the lake is Lake Jackson Mounds Archaeological State Park, one of the most important archaeological sites in the state. The site was discovered to be a ceremonial center of the Fort Walton Culture dating back to 1100-1550. The park includes three burial mounds and a constructed and a leveled ceremonial plaza. It is definitely an interesting place to spend an afternoon; the large park also offers activities such as hiking and picnicking areas.
Shopaholics need not fear, shopping is near. Just head south on Highway 263 to Highway 10, here lies Capital West Shopping Center, providing residents with a Wal-Mart, and restaurants such as Applebees and Sonic Drive-In. The Tallahassee Mall, located east on I-10 is also just a short drive away for residents. Stores here include Belk, Burlington Coat Factory, and Ross, along with numerous specialty stores, restaurants, and an AMC Theatre.
