Villa Mitchell is one of Tallahassee’s older, residential downtown neighborhoods. It is located south of West Gaines Street, east of North Lake Bradford Road, and west of Wahnish Way. Encompassed in the 32310 ZIP code in Leon County, nearby neighborhoods include Elberta Empire and College Terrace.
Nestled between Florida State University and Florida A & M University, Villa Mitchell is surrounded by many businesses that cater to the college lifestyle. To the north along West Gaines Street are various banks, small businesses, and specialty stores. Residents can also travel west to North Lake Bradford Road for a variety of dining choices. Popular shopping destinations in the area are Southside Shopping Plaza to the south and Governor’s Square located about two miles to the east.
Recreational venues near the Villa Mitchell neighborhood include Palmer Monroe Park to the northwest and Myers Park to the east. Myers is a large facility popular for its tennis courts. There are many acres offered for nature walking and hiking. Palmer Monroe is a smaller park with various athletic fields, picnic areas, and a playground. Capital City Country Club is just south of Myers Park.
Located next to Palmer Monroe Park is Sail High School. Other schools situated near Villa Mitchell include Pineview Elementary and Nims Middle School. The Collins Main Public Library is to the northeast near Old City Cemetery.
Tallahassee Regional Airport is less than three miles to the southwest of Villa Mitchell. Just north of the airport are Lake Bradford, Cascade Lake, and Grassy Lake. On the eastern side of the airport and just north of Lake Bradford is the Tallahassee Museum. Other museums like Museum of Florida History and Old Capital Museum are located within minutes of Villa Mitchell right in Downtown.
