Southeast from downtown Tallahassee is the Myers Park neighborhood. It is bordered on the east by the Capital City Country Club and on the west by a commercial area. Tallahassee is surrounded by lakes, swamps, and wildlife areas. Myers Park residents have access to miles of streams for canoeing and miles of trails for hiking, biking, and even long boarding. At the 68,000-acre St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge, visitors can enjoy camping, hiking, and bird watching, particularly for whooping cranes and bald eagles.

Florida is a golf haven, and Tallahassee has its share of fine courses. The family-friendly Golf Club at Summerbrooke was designed by a protégé of Arnold Palmer and features 18 holes of championship-caliber golf, a resort pool, and a restaurant. Wedding receptions are often held there.
