Midyette Plantation Apartments for Rent(hide neighborhood information)
This small, exclusive neighborhood in the northeast Tallahassee suburbs is comprised of large houses built around a circular road. Midyette Plantation was developed in the early 1990s as a gated community, and the large brick houses are nestled in mature landscaping on spacious lots. Many houses have screened-in porches and swimming pools, perfect amenities for enjoying life in the north Florida summers.
The neighborhood’s name comes from a prominent family who raised beef cattle on the land in the mid-twentieth century. The neighborhood is on the former Midyette game plantation and it is built on Centennial Oaks Circle just southeast of Miccosukee Road. Interstate 10, which cuts through Tallahassee and across north Florida, is minutes from the neighborhood and provides an easy commute across the area.
Several of Tallahassee’s most popular parks are near Midyette Plantation. Tom Brown Park is six miles away, and its dog park is filled with canines enjoying freedom from their leashes on weekend mornings. The park also has a Frisbee golf course and BMX bicycle course as well as a playground, walking trails, and picnic areas. The parking lot at JR Alford Greenway, just south of the neighborhood, has extra large spaces to accommodate horse trailers for the many equestrians who use the miles of trails there. The trails are also popular with hikers, runners, and mountain bikers.
Interstate 10 and Highway 90 connect the neighborhood with Tallahassee’s downtown and major universities and malls, but the neighborhood is near many conveniences in the suburbs. Capital Regional Medical Center is close by, as are a grocery store, convenience stores, and restaurants at Vineyard Shopping Center.
