Nestled among other residential neighborhoods of Tallahassee, Hawks Nest is a rather small community. With its tree-lined streets and sprawling lawns, it’s popular among a wide variety of residents.
Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park is a mile to its east. It is comprised of 1,176 acres and offers over five miles of multiple-use trails that are often enjoyed by hikers, cyclists, and horseback riders. Forestmeadows Park & Athletic Center is two miles to its southwest. The Meadow Wood Memorial Park, which welcomes respectful walkers, is at the southern border of the community.
Although Hawks Nest itself is primarily residential, it’s near many central landmarks and businesses of the greater Tallahassee area. The Killearn Plantation Archaeological and Historic District is a mile to its east. The Museum of Florida History, which attracts visitors from all over the state and beyond, is five miles to its south. The Tallahassee Regional Airport is an easy commute, at nine miles to its southwest.
Several restaurants are also nearby. Mozaik, a French restaurant, and the Atlanta Bread Company are about a half-mile east of Hawks Nest. Tally’s Grille and Kitcho Japanese Grill are just over a half-mile to its southeast. North China Gourmet, Subway Sandwiches, Old Town Cafe, King House, Poboys, Wendy’s, and Taco Bell are within a one-mile radius.
Several of the residents of Hawks Nest are members of the Capital City Country Club, which is just six miles south of the community. It offers a well-manicured, 18-hole championship golf course, a clubhouse, on-site dining, an aquatic center, tennis courts, and special event facilities.
