There are many places for students to go to get away from the pressures of the campus. Those who love hiking can try out Tallahassee – St. Mark’s Historic Railroad State Trails. Like many converted railroad lines across the country, this trail was formerly a railroad between Tallahassee and St. Mark’s, but is now a paved trail used for recreation. The trail is flat, but it winds in and out through some spectacular woodland areas.
History lovers can visit the Mission San Luis de Apalachee for a genuine 17th century experience. The Mission used to be the western capital of Spanish Florida, and visitors can see what it was like through costumed guides, reconstructed buildings, exhibits, and demonstrations.
