College Terrace is bound by Wahnish Way, West Orange Avenue, Pasco Street, and Gamble Street. The FAMU Baseball Dugout lies in the northeast quadrant, as do other university facilities. The neighborhood adjoins Florida A and M University, with Bragg Stadium just north. It is in zip code 32310.

This neighborhood is surrounded by some of the city’s finest lakes, parks, and recreational areas. About 10 miles north, Lake Jackson and the Elinor Klapp-Phipps Park offer 670 acres for exploration. It is a large and wild urban park. Seven miles of trails wind through a forest of magnolias, tulip poplars, and streams. Lake Jackson also has an archaeological state park.

Edward Ball Wakulla Springs State Park is just south. The springs are some of the largest and deepest in the world. The park has great swimming, hiking, snorkeling, and other water activities. The park and lodge are on the National Register of Historic Places and are National Natural Landmarks.

Another historic site marks the only confirmed site in North America where the Spanish Conquistador Hernando De Soto camped. He and his men spent the winter of 1539-40 near today’s downtown Tallahassee. There is a marker at the site and artifacts can be found at the museum.

Great shopping is not far away. Governor’s Square has four national department stores and plenty of fast food and casual dining restaurants. Tallahassee Mall has Belk’s, as well as Barnes & Noble, specialty stores, dining, and a movie theater. The Downtown Marketplace at Ponce de Leon Park blends farmers market shopping with live music and entertainment each Saturday.
