Located about two miles southeast of Downtown Tallahassee, Florida, Campbell Park is a small neighborhood just north of Campbell Pond. The neighborhood is bounded by Omega Avenue to the north, Zillah Street on the east, Cornelia Street on the west, and Gaile Avenue covers the southern border.
Situated on the eastern border of Campbell Park on Zillah Street is Fairview Middle School. The school is within walking distance for most of the neighborhood’s middle school children. Sidewalks are provided on the opposite side of the school’s street; however, most of the neighborhood does not have sidewalk access. The area around the middle school can get busy with traffic especially during mornings and afternoons. Other schools near Campbell Park include Leonard Wesson Elementary and Rickards High School.
Campbell Pond is situated about a quarter of a mile to the southeast of the neighborhood. Situated on Shoreline Drive in the Lakewood neighborhood is the Campbell Pond Park. Residents can view the pond or bring children to enjoy the local playground. The larger Tom Brown Park is about four miles northeast of the community. Tom Brown Park offers various athletic fields, tennis courts, and the popular BMX track.
Approximately two miles to the west of Campbell Park is Tallahassee Regional Airport. Surrounding the airport is Talquin Wildlife Management Area. Talquin has over 800 acres of natural Florida habitat where residents can hike, mountain bike, or horseback ride on the scenic trails. The Wildlife Management Area (WMA) also provides seasonal hunting.
Due to its proximity to Downtown, Campbell Park residents are only minutes from popular shopping, dining, and entertainment venues. South of Downtown is Florida A&M University, and to the west is Florida State University. Located on the east side of Florida A&M are larger shopping choices including Southside Shopping Plaza. Popular Governor’s Square is approximately 2.5 northeast of the neighborhood.
