Shopping close to the neighborhood means a trip to the Vineyard Center. Governor’s Square in Tallahassee is a larger center with many shopping, dining, and entertainment choices. It is a multi-level mall with a fountain and indoor trees.

Visiting St. Vincent’s Island is an outdoor adventure. Tour operators take visitors from Apalachicola, a coastal city 50 miles from Tallahassee. Free public tours are offered during Wildlife Refuge Week in October and Migratory Bird Day in May. The undeveloped island is alive with birds, including bald eagles. Alligators, red wolves, and sea turtles also find refuge there. The island Sambar deer population is managed with primitive weapon hunts.
