The 1300 Live Oak Plantation neighborhood is located near the northern border of Florida on the outskirts of Tallahassee. It is a plush region, filled with hearty vegetation thriving from various lakes, ponds, and rivers that add to the spectacular scenery and ambience of the area. The 1300 Live Oak Plantation is established southeast of Lake Jackson. Lake Lamonia and several smaller lakes and water features are located northeast of Lake Jackson. Lake Talquin is located southwest of the neighborhood in the Lake Talquin State Forest.

The lakes in the area of the 1300 Live Oak Plantation neighborhood are known as prairie lakes. Prairie lakes are commonly shallow; they tend to naturally dry up during dry periods of the year and fill when the rains come. This allows for multiple species of plants to grow and flourish, creating an interesting and diverse natural habitat for wildlife and vegetation. Residents of the 1300 Live Oak Plantation benefit from numerous species of migrating birds that frequent the region. Some species like the snowy egret and wood stork are quite rare.

Interstate 10 runs east and west on the north border of the 1300 Live Oak Plantation community. Highway 61 is a short distance east of the neighborhood, running north and south. Highway 61 provides access to two popular resorts in the community: the Hilton Garden Inn and the Hampton Inn and Suites Tallahassee Hotel. Both resorts are luxurious and have earned excellent reputations in the community.

The 1300 Live Oak Plantation is minutes away from Florida State University, established south of Highway 61. According to their Web site, “The Florida State University is receiving national recognition for its efforts to engage the world around it through teaching, research, service and partnerships.”
