The neighborhood of Stoneybrook is located to the east of downtown Orlando. Stoneybrook consists of contemporary, medium-sized one- and two-story homes built on winding streets north of a great loop in South Alafaya Trail. As is typical of central Florida, there are many small lakes in the area. State Route 50 is just to the north, and State Route 551 is to the west of the neighborhood. Two golf courses, the Stoneybrook Golf Club and the Eastwood Golf Club, border to the east.

Schools serving the Stoneybrook area include Sunrise Elementary School, Waterford Elementary School, and Discovery Middle School. Also nearby are a La Petite Academy facility and the Kids R Kids Schools of Quality Learning: Waterford Lakes.

The area is surrounded by many popular restaurants ranging from fast food to pizza shops and eateries serving Italian, Chinese, American, or Puerto Rican cuisine. Among them are China City, Orlando Summer Place Chinese Restaurant, Guavate, and Massimo Trattoria.

Just to the east of Stoneybrook is the Econlockhatchee River and Swamp—called the Econ by the locals—which is a popular recreational area. Visitors can explore groves of tall oaks and mangroves, take a wild but safe ride on an airboat through the swamps to observe alligators and other wildlife, stay the night in a genuine and fully-equipped log cabin, paddle leisurely down the river, go horseback riding, relax on a riverside beach, or hike one or more of the many trails that snake their way through the area. There is even a real working ranch to explore.
