The Mill Pond community is located at the top of the Florida peninsula, near the base of the Florida panhandle. It is centrally located almost equally between the east and west coastlines, on the east side of Interstate 75 in the region of Gainesville, Florida. Mill Pond is an urban community surrounded by beautiful countryside.

Directly west of Mill Pond is Lake Kanapaha, an amazing place with lots of recreational and educational activities to offer visitors. Acres of lush, vibrant vegetation complement the area where Mill Pond residents come to picnic, hike, fish, and camp. One of the best things to see at Lake Kanapaha is the Kanapaha Botanical Gardens which have one of Florida’s largest collections of multiple species of bamboo, herbs, and water lilies. There is also a golf course at Lake Kanapaha, and lodging nearby for those who prefer to spend a few days there.

The University of Florida takes up almost the entire northeast quadrant of the Mill Pond community, while the southeast section of Mill Pond has a plethora of wildlife preserves, conservation lands and lakes. These provisions make the neighborhood a great place to learn, observe and study nature, as well as enjoy a variety of outdoor recreation possibilities.

Mill Pond residents live less than an hour from San Felasco Hammock Preserve State Park. At the park, visitors can see a vast variety of plants, as well as several species of animals including bobcats, foxes, deer and many different types of birds. It is a great place for hiking, horseback riding and mountain biking.

Mill Pond is virtually surrounded by amazing natural resources. It is located near a prestigious college that provides an excellent education and has multiple recreation facilities on its campus. Along with two lakes, UF also has its own golf course.
