Las Pampas Apartments for Rent(hide neighborhood information)
Located in the northwest section of Gainesville, the Las Pampas neighborhood is located south of the intersection of Thirty-fourth Street and Thirty-ninth Avenue. This quiet community of affordable housing is perfect for families, young professionals and students. Its lush greenery and quiet atmosphere make it an attractive option for both renters and those looking to purchase homes.
The Las Pampas neighborhood is home to the University of Florida, a “public ivy” college, which is the second largest in Florida. With more than 50,000 students, it is now one of the largest universities in the country, and its Gainesville headquarters dates back to 1906. Today the 2,000-acre campus holds more than 900 buildings and is known for its outstanding research in the medical field.
Las Pampas residents are also conveniently located near Santa Fe College. Begun as a community college, this state school began offering bachelor degrees in 2009 in the area of health sciences.
With these universities so focused on medical research, it’s little surprise that there should be outstanding medical facilities in the neighborhood. Most prominent of them is the Shands Health Care System. Affiliated with the University of Florida, Shands includes teaching hospitals, specialty hospitals, home health agencies and a large network of rehabilitative facilities. These include children’s care and the treatment of cancer patients.
The Shands at FC Cancer Hospital is currently constructing a hospital Garden of Hope, which will provide a quiet place for patients, their families, and area residents. Intended as an oasis of calm, the Las Pampas garden will feature native vegetation, tress, benches and a lake.
The Las Pampas neighborhood has convenient access to downtown Gainesville for shopping, dining and entertainment. It’s also close to Northside Park and Devil’s Millhopper Geological State Park.
