Bordered on the south by Graves Avenue, the west by the Lawrence Expressway, the north by Doyle Road, and the east by Saratoga Avenue, Country Lane is a moderately sized neighborhood in southwestern San Jose midway between Campbell and Cupertino. Although primarily residential, Country Lane contains a number of small businesses and municipal areas, including Saratoga Creek Park.
Country Lane is an upper middle-class neighborhood with a moderately culturally diverse population. It is somewhat densely populated—more so than the San Jose average, but not by very much—and the over 3,500 residents who call Country Lane home are predominately happy with their chosen community.
The Plaza Shopping Center is within walking distance to the right of Country Lane, while the three shopping areas surrounding Westgate Mall lie within walking distance to the south: El Paseo Saratoga Shopping Center, Westgate Shopping Center, and Westgate West Shopping Center. One of these, the Westgate West Shopping Center, is actually adjacent to Country Lane on the southern side. Park Lane Plaza Shopping Center is also within walking distance, this time on the northern end of Country Lane.
Country Lane residents have many fun activities within a short distance, from the Retro Dome to the Saratoga 14 Cinema. The Jungle is an especially large indoor play area available for children of all ages; it is a favorite of many of the children who reside in Country Lane. Dog owners will particularly appreciate the Saratoga Creek Dog Park, which is made specifically for dogs of all kinds in the area.
There are a number of good schools in the surrounding area, but Country Lane Elementary School is an especially good one that just happens to lie right in the middle of Country Lane. Many of Country Lane’s younger children walk there each school day for their classes.
