Westwood Highlands Apartments for Rent

(hide neighborhood information)

Southwest of downtown San Francisco, California is the neighborhood of Westwood Highlands. Consisting of medium to large Spanish-style brick and adobe homes on hilly terrain, the Westwood Highlands is partially bordered on the north by Mount Davidson. Glen Canyon Park is just to the east and Interstate 280 is just to the southeast.

One of the city’s 44 hills, Mount Davidson, is the highest point in San Francisco at 928 feet. On the summit is Mount Davidson Park, which is primarily noted for its 103-foot cross. The cross is the focal point of a yearly prayer service when it is illuminated at Easter.

Schools serving Westwood Highlands include Riordan High School, Lick-Wilmerding High School, Mercy High School, and Maria Montessori School. City College of San Francisco is also nearby.

The 70-acre Glen Canyon Park, along with the neighboring 3.6-acre O’Shaughnessy Hollow offers a glimpse of what the San Francisco area looked like before it was developed. The scenery here revolves around its numerous large outcrops of rock, which represents terrain ranging from 100 million to 200 million years old. Recreational facilities here include a community center, playgrounds, ball fields, tennis courts, and a ropes course – popular for rock climbers.

Many of the restaurants nearby to Westwood Highlands are highly rated by their customers. Some of these are Fresca Restaurant, Boulevard Cafe, Joe’s of Westlake, and Chou Chou French Bistro.
