Presidio Heights Apartments for Rent(hide neighborhood information)
The Presidio Heights is located to the northwest of downtown San Francisco, California on the southern border of the Presidio. It consists of upscale multi-story Victorian homes, condos, and apartments. The homes are right off the sidewalks with little or no front yards. The north-south running State Route 1 is just to the west and cuts through the Presidio to the Golden Gate Bridge.
A U.S. military installation until recently, the Presidio is now a mixed area of residential neighborhoods, parks, the Presidio Golf Course, and a cemetery.
Schools in and near Presidio Heights include Presidio Hill School, Roosevelt Middle School, and San Francisco University High School.
There are several popular and highly-rated restaurants near Presidio Heights including Spruce Restaurant, Magic Flute Garden Ristorante, and Garibaldis on Presidio. Garibaldis is a popular place for tourists and people-watchers as many local politicians, celebrities, and socialites hang out here.
Southwest of Presidio Heights is the long, rectangular 1,017-acre Golden Gate Park. San Francisco’s version of New York’s Central Park is actually 20% larger. The park was the home of old Kezar Stadium where the San Francisco 49rs used to play. In its place is a 9,000-seat facility used for soccer, football, and lacrosse games.
Also inside Golden Gate Park are the Conservatory of Flowers, the AIDS Memorial Grove, the San Francisco Botanical Garden and Strybing Aboretum, Stow Lake, a Bison paddock, and the Beach Chalet.
Minutes away and to the southeast of Presidio Heights is downtown San Francisco with all of its world-class and famous attractions.
