LA Sierra Hills Apartments for Rent(hide neighborhood information)
La Sierra Hills is a lightly-developed community southwest of downtown Riverside, California. Like many area neighborhoods, it takes its name from the old Spanish land grant of Rancho La Sierra de la Sepulveda. The neighborhood offers mostly single-family homes set near hillsides that are brown in summer and vivid green in late winter and spring.
Bound on the north by Arlington Avenue and on the south by Grammercy Place, La Sierra Hills is bordered on the east by La Sierra Heights, and on the west by the Norco Hills neighborhood. The zip code is 92505.
Schools here fall within the Alvord School District and include Twinhill, Valley View and McAuliffe Elementary. Middle schools include Villegas and Loma Vista. La Sierra and Norte Vista are local high schools.
The pastoral campus of La Sierra University is a few blocks south of La Sierra Hills, and worth exploring. The Hidden Valley Wildlife Area is just to the north of La Sierra Hills. With 25 miles of trails that explore bluffs, riverbanks and wetlands, it’s a popular local getaway.
Interstate 15 is within easy reach of the neighborhood, and connects to the Riverside and Pomona Freeways. Los Angeles metropolitan area Metrolink makes rail connections with a station in La Sierra South and another in downtown Corona.
Corona Hills Plaza beside the Riverside Freeway is a popular shopping option for the neighborhood. Another is the Galleria at Tyler, also near the freeway; it’s a three-story mall anchored by nationally-recognized retailers.
La Sierra Hills is a tidy, attractive neighborhood. Its hillsides offer views across the valley to snow-capped mountains in winter and wildflower displays in spring. With good schools and low density, La Sierra Hills is a great housing choice.
