Travel about 25 miles east of Los Angeles and you’ll discover the beautiful city of San Dimas. San Dimas is located in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains just south of Angeles National Forest. The forest is a great area with developed campgrounds, picnic areas, skiing, swimming, fishing, mountain biking, hiking, and horseback riding.
The area was first settled by Ygnacio Palomares and Ricardo Vejar. They established a ranch, Rancho San Jose, after receiving a land grant from Mexico. Today, San Dimas features a historic downtown with many events reflecting its history. The Walker House is an iconic location downtown; this house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and was built in 1887 as a railroad hotel. It features an art gallery, a museum, and a gift shop.
The Western Art Show and Gala Garden Affair showcases over 200 works of art over a multi-day event that also includes dinners, an auction, workshops, and seminars. Western Days is an exciting annual event that includes vendors, crafts, contests, a parade, a rodeo, and cowboy reenactments complete with shootouts.
After discovering your new San Dimas apartment to rent, you’ll enjoy a bike-friendly, small community with a strong equestrian presence and plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy the ideal weather. The seasonal Farmer’s Market features fresh produce, baked goods, and much more.
