The private, evangelical Christian Azusa Pacific University was established in 1899 and enrolls about 5,000 students. The 105-acre campus is located in Azusa, a picturesque city located between Pasadena and Rancho Cucamonga with the Angeles National Forest its northern border. Azusa is just 25 miles northeast of Los Angeles.
The Azusa Pacific Cougars participate in NCAA Division II, Pacific West Conference for most sports, while the football team is a member of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. Other sports include basketball, baseball, soccer, tennis, and volleyball.
