This community is located just west of Interstate 10 and North Highway Drive and south of West Ruthrauff Road. The Tucsonita neighborhood features several commercial offerings of its own, while a few miles east of the community residents flock to one of the largest retail areas in the entire city. The Tucson Mall and adjacent Oracle Ridge Plaza Shopping Center offer more than 200 specialty stores anchored by four major department stores (Sears, Dillard’s, Macy’s, and JCPenney), as well as a large Forever 21. Dining options here include a Mimi’s Café, Red Robin, and The Cheesecake Factory, among others.

In addition to all the commercial offerings in Tucsonita and the surrounding area, there are several options for outdoor recreation nearby. To the southeast the Flowing Wells Jr. High School Park offers six baseball/softball fields, two football/soccer fields, six tennis courts, and five basketball courts.

West of Tucsonita, on the other side of I-10, sits the Silverbell Regional Park. This large expanse of mostly undeveloped parkland surrounds Silverbell Lake. The Pima County Animal Control Center is situated on park grounds to the south, and the Sweetwater Wetlands Park and Silverbell Golf Course south of the Animal Center. The parkland is popular for hiking, though not as popular as the large, lush Tucson Mountain Park a few miles to the west.
