The Tara Neighborhood is in the 85749 zip code, northeast of the city of Tucson, Arizona, between the city and the Santa Catalina Mountains. The relatively new neighborhood is small, but still has plenty of room for growth into the open desert around it.

The open desert sits to the north and the west of the neighborhood. North Melpomene Way is the eastern border and the only road into the area. To the south, a long, dusty driveway that leads up from Tango Verde marks the border.

Although the Tara Neighborhood is far north of Tucson proper, a wide range of activities are available to the residents. The Agua Caliente Regional Park and Arizona National Golf Course are to the north and the Forty-Niner Golf Course and the Hummer Tours of Tucson are to the east. To the south is the Saguaro National Park for hiking and to the west is the Firearms Mastery Training Institute.

The homes of the Tara Neighborhood are traditional southwestern Designs, beefed up for the larger lots on which they rest. The properties are nearly an acre, with only one or two empty lots waiting for homes. The roads are narrow and have not yet acquired sidewalks for pedestrians or bike lanes. While most of the roads in the area are paved, a few of the thoroughfares are wash roads, or dirt tracks that lead from one area to the next. These roads can be great fun if you have a truck; otherwise, stick to the pavement.
