It is also known as the Mount Lemmon Highway, and creates a direct path deep into the mountains, to the Mount Lemmon Observatory. Along the way, visitors can rest at the General Hitchcock Picnic Area, splash and fish in Rose Canyon Lake, dine in the small town of Summerhaven, and observe nature at Butterfly Peak Natural Area.
Roy P. Drachman – Agua Caliente Regional Park is located south of the Sunrise Ranch neighborhood. The park is a popular destination for nature enthusiasts, providing excellent viewing of insects, aquatic plants and animals, as well as deer, javelinas, and even the skunk and bobcat. Numerous trails are established throughout the park. A large variety of educational programs are sponsored through the park. The facilities are well maintained, supporting accommodations for disabled and handicapped visitors, as well.
The University of Arizona is established approximately 20 minutes southwest of the Sunset Ranch neighborhood in the heart of the city of Tucson. The college is an integral part of the community, influencing and participating in events and educational programs throughout the greater Tucson area.
