Sky Line Ranchos Apartments for Rent

Located in the Summit area south of the Tucson International Airport, the three-block Sky Line Ranchos neighborhood offers desert living within a few miles of downtown. Forming an almost perfect rectangle, South Old Nogales Highway makes up the eastern border and Interstate 19 is the western edge. Beyond these boundaries are a few sparsely populated communities and acres of open desert.

Development in this south Tucson suburb began in the 1970s. Most homes were built before 1994 but construction is ongoing. Sky Line Ranchos is a mixture of single-family homes, duplexes, row houses, and a few mobile homes. The lack of sidewalks and the pockets of undeveloped land give the area a rural atmosphere.

The South Old Nogales Highway does make it easy to get to the airport as well as the shops and restaurants of downtown. The locally owned Mercado Y Carniceria Los Prms, a grocery and meat shop, is less than a half-mile north. The Valencia Road Shopping Mall is north on Interstate 205. Summit Elementary School is a half-mile east of Sky Line Ranchos. All other schools, as well as houses of worship, are to the north.

Three miles north of the airport is the Reid Park, Miko’s Corner Dog Playground. Named after Tucson police dog Miko, who was killed while on duty, the area provides a two-acre off-leash area with doggy fountains that is fenced in and lighted for night use. Covered tables and chairs are provided for two-legged guests.
