Sin Vacas Apartments for Rent
In the beautiful foothills of the Santa Catalina mountains, Sin Vacas is a premier gated community that boasts beautiful desert landscapes and easy access to several Tucson amenities such as upscale retail outlets, golf courses and universities. A beautiful array of luxurious and distinct custom homes can be appreciated in this development surrounded by saguaros, prickly pear, ironwood trees and bright desert flowers.
Historically, the land at Sin Vacas was state owned and primarily used for grazing cattle. On May 28 1936, William J. Holliday, a steel manufacturer from Indianapolis, purchased the land from Pima Canyon Properties. Holliday used the land back then as a winter residence and a sanctuary for wildlife. He fenced the area and named it ”Rancho Sin Vacas,” the Ranch Without Cows.
Following Holliday’s death, developer Kelley Rollings acquired Rancho Sin Vacas and gave its roads characteristic names such as Calle Sin Pecado, ”Street Without Sin, ” Placita Sin Muerte, ”Place Without Death”, and Calle Sin Envidia, ”Street Without Envy”. A portion of Rancho Sin Vacas was then sold to Bill Estes, a Tucson real estate developer.
The majestic Sin Vacas stone gate right still greets its visitors. Guards work there 24/7 to ensure safety and direct visitors. Right on the west side of Calle Sin Envidia are the Villas at Sin Vacas, a community featuring town homes with clubhouse, spa, fitness center and pool. On the east side of Calle Sin Envidia is Villa Milano, featuring seventy-four villas of exquisite architecture reflecting the charm of a Tuscan village.
Parents of school age children may take advantage of several schools in the nearby areas. Manzanita Elementary School off East Manzanita Avenue, Cornerstone Christian Academy primary school off Orange Grove Road, Orange Grove Middle School off East Orange Grove Road, and Catalina Foothills High School off of East Sunrise Drive are a few examples. Upscale shopping can be found at La Encantada mall. Residents can enjoy golfing at nearby Skyline Country Club and La Paloma country club.
The Sin Vacas property owner association holds a monthly ”Bring-a-bottle” wine tasting social event, allowing Sin Vacas neighbors to meet and mingle.
