Located in the southwest portion of the city of Tucson is the subdivision of Sierra Sagrada. The neighborhood is situated about two miles to the west of Interstate 19 and about four miles to the south of Tucson Mountain Park. The closeness to the Interstate, coupled with the fact that Sierra Sagrada is no more than five miles from the Tucson International Airport makes it an ideal location for families who commute.
Surrounding the Sierra Sagrada neighborhood are several historical places for residents to check out. The San Xavier Del Bac Mission is designated a National Landmark and a must-see in the area. The Old Pueblo Archaeology Center is about four miles away and gives visitors a glimpse into the past of the area. Within a ten mile radius, there is the Tucson Museum & Historic and the Pima Air and Space Museum.
On the public school front, most children in the neighborhood attend either Miller or Maldonado Elementary Schools, while the middle school students are headed for either Hohokam Middle School or Pister Middle School. The senior high students go to Hiaki High or Southwest Alternative High School, depending upon where they live in the area. For post-secondary education, students can go to Pima Community College or the University of Arizona.
Residents looking for fun have various options to enjoy. Casino of the Sun offers a nice get-away a short distance from the neighborhood. Take a tour on horseback with Cowan Horse Adventures, or simply relax in any number of parks, including Lawrence District, Mission Ridge, or Cardinal Neighborhood Parks. The Tucson Expo Center also features interesting things mostly every weekend.
The Del Monte Shopping Center is the closest plaza to the neighborhood, while just seven miles separates the community of Sierra Sagrada from the nearest hospital, St. Mary’s.
