Shamrock Center, Tucson is located along Highway 10, east of Tucson Mountain Park. This is an affordable community and is a great place to watch birds, learn about insects, and discover nature in new and exciting ways.
Sweetwater Wetlands is not far from Shamrock Center. The Arizona Game and Fish Department, City Parks and Recreation Department, University of Arizona, and several other partners developed this area on the Santa Cruz riverbed, which remains dry more often than not. Sweetwater Wetlands is a unique place to study bird migration and habits, learn about vast species of insects, and take close-up pictures of plants and wildlife that might otherwise not be found in the desert.
The Silverbell Golf Course, south of the Wetlands, is a great place to enjoy a casual round of golf. Open fairways are offset with large trees, inconspicuous sand traps, and several lakes. These features keep the course interesting, despite the fact that it doesn’t have a lot of hills and valleys.
Tucson Mountain Park, located west of Shamrock Center, offers residents and tourists more than 20,000 acres of land to explore and enjoy. Activities available at the park include hiking, biking, and horseback riding. Visitors also have the opportunity to enjoy breathtaking scenic views. Picnic areas are available, complete with grills for barbecues. Dogs are not allowed in the park. Visitors need to be wary of native animals and their habitats, among them bobcats, mountain lions, and venomous snakes and lizards.
Shamrock Center is a remote area located near some of Arizona’s more interesting destinations. It is a quiet, welcoming desert environment that is an educational and interesting place to explore.
