San Joaquin Vistas is a neighborhood in Tucson, Arizona, located east of downtown and north of Tucson International Airport. The area is east of Interstate 19 and north of Route 86, also known as the West Ajo Highway. South San Joaquin Road runs through the area at a diagonal, and South Broken Spur Lane marks the eastern border. Nearby are a few industrial sites, such as Grant Industrial Site and Millstone Industrial Site.
Visitors enjoy the Old Tucson Studios, which was the site for many western films. Guests can view reenactments of western bar scenes, stroll the studio set, and shop for gifts. Also nearby is the Juan Santa Cruz Picnic Area, which provides a picnic spot and toilets for hikers. Campers can enjoy the 130 campsites at nearby Gilbert Ray Campground, which is located in Tucson Mountain Park. South Kinney Road and Gates Pass Boulevard both cross over the mountains just north of San Joaquin Vistas. From here hikers can enjoy miles of trails, as well as views of the Santa Rosa Mountains and Picture Rocks.
Medical care at the University of Arizona Medical Center is some of the best in the area. The Pima Air and Space Museum is a popular place to view old and new aircraft, and the Children’s Museum of Tucson is also nearby. The University of Arizona is located a short drive away in downtown Tucson, as are several campuses of Pima Community College. The area is also popular with bicyclists, with many roads providing bike lanes.
