With its tree-lined streets and diverse mix of home styles, Samos is like nowhere else you will go in the Tuscon area of Arizona. It has a small-town vibe, yet is near many colleges, cultural attractions, shops, and restaurants.

East Glenn Street serves as the northern border of the neighborhood, while East Water Street marks the southernmost point of Samos. It’s bordered to the west by North Mountain Avenue and to the east by North Campbell Avenue.

The Samos Neighborhood Association helps to beautify the community with special projects and brings neighbors together for the good of the community. Also, the association self-titles the neighborhood as “creative, eclectic, artistic, your ‘grass roots’ neighborhood.”

If the manicured lawns and natural greenery of the neighborhood does not suffice, there are many local parks within walking distance. Among them are Mitchell Pak, Conner Park, Tahoe Park, Waverly Park, and Jefferson Park. They’re all approximately a half-mile or less from the Samos neighborhood.

Culture is also within walking distance of Samos. The Otis H. Chidester Scout Museum is only a half-mile northeast of the neighborhood, while the Franklin Auto Museum is a mile north of the community. The Arizona State Museum is less than two miles south of Samos.

Many younger Samos residents frequent Arena Gaming, a small amusement park that’s also only a half-mile from the neighborhood. It offers access to most popular video games through its computers via Internet access. The gaming area allows for “Lan” play across twenty-four computers.

Yet that’s far from the main thing that brings families to the area. The Tucson Unified School District serves the Samos neighborhood, and the schools have a great reputation. Nearby schools include Salpointe Catholic High School, Little Ranch School, Presidio School, The Montessori Schoolhouse, La Petite Academy, and Southern Arizona Community High School. Neighborhood area schools for younger kids include Creative Beginnings Pre-School & Kindergarten, Happy Trails Kindergarten & Nursery School, and Gentle Hands Center for Children.
