Located right in the southern foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains of Tucson, Rockcliff is a well-to-do, very small, and moderately populated community. With Rockcliff being so close to the mountains, there are many parks and wildnerness areas in proximity to the neighborhood. It is south of the McDonald District Park, the Sabino Visitor Center Picnic Area, and Udall Park.
Rockcliff is a very family-friendly community. The neighborhood is served by the Tucson Unified School District. There are quality private and public schools within walking distance of Rockcliff. The Fenster School of Arizona, known for its quality staff of teachers, is only a mile north of the neighborhood. The Catalina Foothills High School, which happens to be known for achieving some of the highest test scores in Arizona, is near Rockcliff, too. Canyon View Elementary School and the Southern Arizona School for Boys are also close to the neighborhood.
The Fred Astaire Dance Studio, a dance school haven for several Rockcliff residents, is only a half-mile from the center of the neighborhood. The Live Theatre Workshop, a great place to see local, live theater, is only five miles southwest of the center of Rockcliff. Nihon Karate School, for those with a different extracurricular interest, is a little over two miles southeast of Rockcliff.
Several unique museums are close to Rockcliff. The Mark Sublette Medicine Man Gallery, which houses one of the most renowned collections of traditional Western art in the state, is only three miles southwest of the neighborhood. The Museum of the Horse Soldier is just a bit further in the same direction.
