Pima County has lighting restrictions to make sure that the sky is dark for the many area observatories. The homes are actually in a well-developed area and were built to blend in with their surroundings.

The Rancho De Oro street of North Copper Springs Trails begins at Tangerine Road and ends just below Plaza Luna Nueva. The street sits on a hilly area, giving residents great views of the Santa Catalina and Tucson Mountains.

There are many places for shopping and dining at a relatively new and growing shopping area at Tangerine Road and Oracle Road. It is directly across the street from the Catalina State Park. The park features camping and trails for walking and hiking. Horses and dogs are welcome on the trails.

For outdoor activities, Oro Valley has 60 miles of lanes designated for bike riders and has required all commercial areas to have bicycle parking. Residents can bike to many of the neighboring parks.

One of the favorite local attractions is the 20-acre James D Kriegh Park. In addition to a number of sports facilities like ball fields and racquetball courts, the park has an Olympic-sized swimming pool that is heated year-round. Dogs love the park and its fenced off-leash area.

Rancho De Oro is close to Interstate 10, making it a just short trip to Tucson. However, residents of Rancho De Oro neighborhood have everything they need right at home.
