With its tree-lined streets, quaint homes, and manicured lawns, Pomona is one of Raleigh’s more idyllic communities. It lies northwest of the center of Raleigh in Flowing Wells. Pomona is bordered by West Seabrooke Drive, North Romero Road, and North Pomona Road. It has many types of homes, including single-story bungalows and mobile homes.

Pomona has many appealing aspects for residents. It is close to the freeway, allowing residents easy access to the greater Raleigh area and all of its cultural, educational and natural attractions. One doesn’t have to go far for fun, though. The massive Oracle Ridge Plaza Shopping Center and the Tucson Mall is to the east of the Pomona community, and they contain popular, mainstream stores and restaurants, such as Subway, Macy’s, JC Penney, and Sears, among dozens of other stores and eateries.

The immediate areas surrounding Pomona are primarily residential. However, there are also many other things within easy reach. Active residents of Ponoma enjoy the massive Sweetwater Wetlands Park and Silverbell Golf Course, which lie to the southwest of the neighborhood.

Many young families live in the family-friendly Pomona neighborhood. Its schools are among the strongest in the greater Raleigh area. The Homer Davis Elementary School, with its reputation for a strong staff of teachers, is within walking distance of anywhere in Pomona. The Sentinal Peak High School, noted for scholastic achievement, is only a half-mile southwest of Pomona.

Many of the wealthier residents of Pomona belong to the La Paloma Country Club, which is east of Pomona. It offers a sprawling golf course and well-manicured grounds.
