Placita Dek Oro Apartments for Rent(hide neighborhood information)
Placita Dek Oro is a sparsely populated community south of the Oro Valley Country Club Golf Course, north of downtown Tucson. The terrain is rugged and wild and homes are spaced far apart. No roads connect through Placita Dek Oro. Instead, roads lead into different sections of the neighborhood and then dead end either at a cul-de-sac or in a driveway of a large estate.
The closest main roads are North La Canada Drive in the west and West Calle Concordia to the south. A map or an updated GPS device would be a handy tool when exploring Placita Dek Oro. This is an area for those seeking privacy and who don’t mind sharing their property with the local wildlife.
One big plus is the number of golf courses and parks that surround this remote neighborhood. In addition to the Oro Valley course previously mentioned, the Tucson National Course is two miles south and the El Conquistador Country Club is to the northwest. To the east is Catalina State Park, a wilderness area, and the James D Kriegh Park, which offers an off-leash area for dogs.
The closest schools are to the south, including Mesa Verde Elementary, Cross Middle School, and the private Immaculate Heart High School. Ascension Lutheran Church, which also runs its own grade school, and the Oro Valley Church of the Nazarene are nearby.
Oro Valley Shopping Center at North La Canada Drive and West Lambert Lane has shops on all four corners including Walgreens, Big Five Sporting Goods, and a Chase Bank. Also at that intersection are Cafe Torino, a Harvest Restaurant, and a handful of pizza shops.
