Lomas Saenz is a community in southwest Tucson, AZ, near the small town of Valencia West. It is south of downtown Tucson, off the 19 freeway on the way to Mexico.
Lomas Saenz is surrounded by natural beauty. It is bordered on two sides by the Tucson Mountain Park. Sentinel Peak Park is northeast of Lomas Saenz. South of Lomas Saenz is Coronado National Forest. Though the community of Lomas Saenz is relatively secluded, it is centrally located. Tucson’s International Airport is a relatively short distance north, as is University of Arizona, one of three Arizona State Universities located throughout the state.
Benson, Arizona is about an hour east of Lomas Saenz and is is a popular historic town. Visitors can enjoy the great western atmosphere as they become enlightened about much of America’s railroad history. Benson, Arizona is also the home of Kartchner Caverns, one of Arizona’s most amazing state parks.
Kartchner Caverns’ main feature is its limestone caves, which are literally alive with growing mineral formations. The caves are damp and maintained at a cool temperature year round. Guide tours are available to tourists. Visitors who don’t wish to actually tour Kartchner Caverns can picnic, hike, and go camping in Kartchner Caverns State Park.
Lomas Saenz neighborhood is an inexpensive place to live. Median home prices average below $150,000. Most of the residents are families, living in homes that were built primarily between the 1970s and 1980s. It is a desert community near the USA and Mexico border and is heavily influenced by Native American and Hispanic cultures.
