(hide neighborhood information)

The metropolitan area situated at the base of the Santa Catalina Mountains, in the northwest quadrant of Tucson, Arizona is a well-populated region. The terrain is divided up into multiple neighborhoods, some of which are established close to nature and developed with an intriguing western, desert theme. The Laurel Hills neighborhood is the type of place where coyotes may wander into town, roadrunners might scurry across fences, and other wildlife may be seen throughout the landscape.

The Laurel Hills neighborhood sits in a little triangular area, bordered by East Snyder Road and East Catalina Highway. East Catalina Highway leads north, turning into Mount Lemmon Highway approximately two miles from the Laurel Hills community, creating a direct path into the Santa Catalina Mountains adjacent to Saguaro National Park.

Mount Lemmon Highway takes visitors deep into the Santa Catalina Mountains. It provides access to Summerhaven, Mount Lemmon Observatory, and Butterfly Peak Natural Area. All of these destinations are located near the top of the Catalina Mountain Range. Along with hiking and backpacking on various trails, and enjoying scenic views, visitors will find numerous picnic and camping sites in the area. Fresh water fishing is available at Rose Canyon Lake, a beautiful place tucked away beneath towering Ponderosa Pines and stocked with rainbow trout in the spring.

Laurel Hills is established a few miles west of Roy P. Drachman Agua Caliente Regional Park, a destination with over 100 acres of land devoted to preserving wildlife and providing a welcoming environment for nature enthusiasts. The park is home to hundreds of species of native animals and plants, including reptiles, mammals, and birds, as well as numerous types of vegetation consisting of both native and non-native plants. There are also three ponds in the park that accommodate large varieties of aquatic animals and plants.
