The Lantana community is a very small neighborhood bordered on the west side by open, desert land. It sits along West Magee Road, a main thoroughfare in the northern section of the City of Tucson, Arizona. Denny Dunn Neighborhood Park and Sunset are a few miles west of the area, which is established in a fairly well populated part of town.

The Lantana neighborhood is located in the southwest. The region by nature is a desert, featuring interesting sounds and sights. Many native animals are nocturnal. The vast acreage is home to Mount Lemmon Observatory, Butterfly Peak Natural Area, and Catalina State Park. There are several designated picnic areas along Mount Lemmon Highway, the main road that leads to the deepest parts of the area. Rose Canyon Lake is also located near Mount Lemmon Highway. The Santa Catalina Mountain Range is a nice destination for hiking, camping, and fishing.

There are quite a few golf courses in the vicinity of the Lantana neighborhood. Golfing is considered a year round sport in Arizona, an activity that anchors communities and boasts of prize winning greens and tournaments.
