Julia Keen Apartments for Rent(hide neighborhood information)
The rather large neighborhood of Julia Keen lies in central Tucson adjacent to the Davis Monthan Air Force Base on the northwestern side, right alongside Highway 210, the East Aviation Highway. Bordered on the north by East 22nd Street, on the east by South Alvernon Way, on the southeast by South Palo Verde Road, on the southwest by East Aviation Highway, and on the west by South City Parkway and South Camilla Stra, the Julia Keen community is no stranger to the benefits and pitfalls of downtown living.
Two parks lie within the borders of Julia Keen. Parkview Park, named perhaps due to its view of itself, is a common gathering place for local Julia Keen residents, and is rarely deserted, regardless of the time of day. Its sister park is simply named Park. It is extremely tiny, and was named after Parkview Park, perhaps in an attempt to make possible the joke that Parkview Park is named for having a view of Park, which is only a block to the west.
Although it is a bit farther from the two parks inside the borders of Julia Keen, the large Gene C. Reed Park lies adjacent to the neighborhood on the northern side. The Randolph Municipal Golf Course, which takes up even more land, lies beside it, and is also adjacent to Julia Keen on the northern side. Both are often frequented by many residents of the Julia Keen community. Country Club Park is adjacent to Julia Keen on the southwestern side.
Shopping in Julia Keen is an everyday affair, and many of the businesses that call Julia Keen home maintain quite a few customers who do not actually reside in the neighborhood. Business is especially brisk in the far northern and southern areas, specifically at the intersection of South Palo Verde Road and East Aviation Highway.
