The Critterland neighborhood is located directly south of Tucson Mountain Park, which is established in the western region of Saguaro National Park. The community is situated west of Interstate 10 and Interstate 19. Interstate 10 travels north and south, from Phoenix through Tucson, before heading east into New Mexico. Interstate 19 veers off Interstate 10 from South Tucson, heading south into Mexico. The West Ajo Highway, also known as Highway 86, makes it easy for residents of the Critterland neighborhood to reach both Interstate 10 and 19, which are located only a few miles away.

The Saguaro National Park has hundreds of acres of beautiful desert scenery. There are miles of trails to explore, many leading to unique and intriguing picnic sites. Tucson Mountain Park is a popular destination for riding motor bikes. Designated biking trails are challenging and fun, providing hours of entertainment and competition for biking enthusiasts. Old Tucson Studios is located a few miles northwest of Tucson Mountain Park; it is a dynamic western theme park, complete with picture sets from famous western television shows and movies.

The City of Tucson is home to the University of Arizona, one of three state universities providing higher educational opportunities for residents. U of A was founded in the late 1800s, prior to Arizona becoming a state in 1912, and is well known for its prestigious academic programs. Students can earn degrees in numerous subject areas, including medicine.

The Critterland neighborhood is a suburb of Tucson. It is located on the outskirts of town in the southwest quadrant of the city, near the base of the Tucson Mountains. The area is accented by rich earth tones, amazing rock formations, and extensive ranch lands.
