Comprised primarily of townhouses and single-family, detached residences, the community is picturesque yet convenient to all the urban treasures that Tucson is known for having. The Tucson Botanical Gardens, a wonder of nature and a Tuscan landmark, are only four miles south of Catalina Del Rey.

Catalina Del Rey is a popular neighborhood for college students. The University of Arizona is less than three miles west of the community. A campus of the University of Phoenix, which many people use for at-home study, is located just four miles south of Catalina Del Rey. The Art Institute of Tucson, which has an impressive record of artistic successes among its alumni, is only four miles from the neighborhood.
