Caserio Viejo Apartments for Rent(hide neighborhood information)
Caserio Viejo is a neighborhood located southeast of downtown Tuscon. The neighborhood is south of East Oro Esconddo Drive and west of South Camino Loma Alto. This is an area of hilly desert landscapes. It is a very rural area with few homes and wide open spaces. The homes are large on vast lots with lots of scrub brush in between. The area has spectacular mountain views.
A short drive to the north or to the east of Caserio Viejo is the Saguaro National Park. One of the objects of this park is to protect the most recognizable symbol of the American Southwest, the Saguaro Cactus. These are the tall cactus that most people immediately associate with this part of the country, to which they are unique. The part of the park known as the Rincon Mountain District is closest to this neighborhood. There are hiking/biking trails through the park as well as wilderness areas for the more adventurous.
Colossal Cave Mountain Park is another park that is a short drive from the neighborhood. A visit to this park can include a visit to the cave. This is done on a guided tour. For the equestrian, there are western horseback riding tours through the park. There are many other things to do in the park including hiking, picnicking, sluicing for gems, visiting the butterfly garden, and bird watching. Camping is also available.
When residents want to shop, they head into Tucson and Park Place Mall. It offers a variety of retailers, services, restaurants, and movie theaters. The mall is anchored by Sears, Macy’s, and Dillard’s. To grocery shop, there is a Safeway and a Fry’s grocery store a short drive to the west.
