Buena Tierra is a neighborhood in southwestern Tucson. Although it is part of the urban Flowing Wells, there is also plentiful nearby greenery and parkland. There are apartment buildings and single-family, detached houses in the community, as well as various other types and styles of homes. It is quite an eclectic mix of dwellings.

The community of Riverside Gardens lies to its east, and the community of Buena Ventura lies to its west.

The primarily residential community of Buena Tierra is also conveniently located near major shopping and cultural meccas of Tucson, such as the Oracle Ridge Plaza Shopping Center and the Tucson Mall, which have such well-known stores as Dillard’s and Macy’s, as well as restaurants like the California Pizza Kitchen and the Cheesecake Factory. Several of the more well-to-do residents of Buena Tierra belong to the La Paloma Country Club, which lies east of the neighborhood. Its sprawling, well-manicured golf courses have won multiple awards, and training courses are offered by the club. It also has multiple pools, exercise classes, modern gym equipment, professional tennis facilities, multiple restaurants, and special event planning services.

The Happy Art Gallery, a unique Tucson gallery of offbeat art, is located only a mile east of Buena Tierra, while Marlene Burns Fine Art is less than a mile to its north. The GPD Toy Train Museum and the T-Rex Museum (which is ideal for the young ones who love dinosaurs, or any age visitor intrigued by these specimens from the far distant past,) are also within a one-mile radius of Buena Tierra.
