Barrio Contro is a neighborhood in Tucson, Arizona. The neighborhood is located to the south of 22nd Street, north of Aviation Highway, and west of Country Club Road. Barrio Contro is known for being a major center for goods transportation with a large transportation yard to the south of the community. Many throughout the surrounding area are employed directly by goods transporters, warehouses, and manufacturing firms located nearby.

The Tucson International Airport is only a short distance to the south of Barrio Contro. This large airport provides most of the major travel in and out of the region, offering flights throughout the country and the world. Most of the airlines that stop through the airport are major national carriers. In combination with Davis Monthan Air Force Base, which neighbors Barrio Contro, there are regular flights throughout the area both military and civilian in nature. These two entities bring a great deal of money into the area with many residents employed by either the government or the airport itself.

Recreation is also pretty important with numerous parks within a short distance of the neighborhood. One of the biggest is about a mile away to the northeast off of Alvernon Way. This is where the Randolph Municipal Golf Course can be found. This hugely popular course provides a solid playing field for the many golfers in Tucson. The course is also located next to the Randolph Recreation Center which is home to swimming, a fitness center, and some of the best tennis courts around.

For shopping needs, a short drive north of the Randolph Recreation Center off of Broadway Boulevard will reveal one of the numerous shopping centers in the area. This is where the El Con Shopping Center is located. This large mall has many major brand-name retailers and restaurants.
