Aguirre is a small neighborhood bordered by North Freeway St. on the west, North Anita Ave on the east and West Carmen St. on the south. Aguirre is mainly an industrial area where many businesses such as Bicas Bicycle Inter Community Action & Salvage call home.
Bicas is a community run bicycle recycling center. Bicas is not a traditional bike shop, but an education center for the community which turns used bicycle parts into art.
Esteven Park is near the Aquirre neighborhood. The Tucson Magpies Rugby Team holds matches at this park. People also use the park for picnics, jogging and walking. Francisco Elias Esquer Park is nearby and offers residents in this area a place to spend time on weekends and holidays.
A short drive away from the Aguirre neighborhood is Sentinel Peak Park or more commonly known as “A Mountain” because of the giant A made of painted basalt rock on the mountain. Many visitors climb the mountain during charity events or just for fun. There is also an annual 4th of July fireworks celebration at Sentinel Peak Park.
The Aguirre area has many hotels to choose from such as the Arizona Plaza Hotel, Travelodge Tucson and Econo Lodge to name a few.
Also close to the Aguirre neighborhood is the El Rio Golf Course. Originally, El Rio Gold Course was the site of the Tucson Open. It is a popular golf course for many a Tucson and visiting golfer.
The Aguirre neighborhood is close to Interstate 10 and visitors can easily access all the attractions that Tucson has to offer.
