Scottsdale, AZ Apartments for Rent

With its picture-perfect location in the heart of the beautiful Sonoran Desert just northeast of Phoenix, Scottsdale lives up to its slogan, “The West’s Most Western Town.” Situated along the Salt River, Scottsdale is an unusual mix of desert cactus and sparkling waters, stark rock formations and rolling green hills. The city straddles the Salt River Indian Reservation and is just minutes from Tonto National Forest.

Scottsdale was settled by Winfield Scott, an Army Chaplain, in 1888. He, along with his brother, planted several citrus groves and named the town Orangedale. The town’s name was changed in 1894 in honor of Scott, but the city didn’t incorporate until 1951. Today, Scottsdale is the sixth-largest city in Arizona and is award-winning for its beauty, quality of life, and affordability.

Things to Do in Scottsdale:

When you rent an apartment in Scottsdale, you’ll live on-the-go! There’s so much to see and do in Scottsdale that it may be difficult to find a “lazy day.” There’s white-water rafting down the Salt River, hot-air ballooning over the Sonoran Desert, riding a jeep through the Tonto National Forest, shopping at Fashion Square Mall, hiking on Camelback Mountain, golfing at the 100 golf courses, and cheering for the San Francisco Giants at their spring training facility, the Scottsdale Stadium.

Old Town Scottsdale is filled with art museums, shops, restaurants, and galleries to explore. This historic district features architecture from the late 1800s, with original buildings such as the first general store and the first bank still standing. The first bank is now the Rusty Spur Saloon, a real cowboy saloon – the last in Scottsdale – that has served some very famous faces, including the iconic cowboys John Wayne and Clint Eastwood. Other famous patrons include Vince Vaughn, Jennifer Aniston, and John Rich.

The Desert Botanical Garden is sure to become a favorite place to visit after choosing your new Scottsdale apartment. This unique garden features more than 50,000 plants and five trails that focus on the Sonoran Desert, desert living, and desert plants and wildflowers. The Desert Botanical Garden also hosts concerts, special events, and seasonal exhibits. Be sure to enjoy lunch at the outdoor café and visit the gift shop to pick up some unique plants for your apartment!

One trip to the McDowell Sonoran Preserve and you’ll appreciate living in Scottsdale all the more! This beautiful park features more than 30,000 acres of the Sonoran Desert and includes over 100 miles of hiking trails. In addition to hiking, activities include mountain biking, bird-watching, off-roading, and rock-climbing.

Scottsdale is home to a variety of terrific museums – more than 125 of them — including the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, or SMoCA. Established in 1999, SMoCA is the only permanent modern art museum in Arizona. It features five unique galleries as well as an outdoor sculpture garden.

When it is time for some retail therapy, there’s one place in Scottsdale you’ll want to be: Scottsdale Fashion Square! At about 2 million square feet, it is one of the nation’s largest shopping malls. It is also an upscale, luxury mall and one of the nation’s most profitable malls. It is home to such stores as Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Armani, Burberry, Cartier, Coach, and Gucci. If you prefer to be outdoors enjoying Scottsdale’s beautiful weather, head to Kierland Commons, an outdoor mall that includes 70 high-end specialty stores, a variety of top-ranking restaurants, and entertainment.

At the end of the day, there’s even more to do. Scottsdale is home to more than 80 nightclubs, wine bars, and lounges. It also offers several performing arts centers, open-air concerts, night tours, and festivals. The Scottsdale Arts Festival is considered one of the nation’s best events.

What to Consider When Moving to Scottsdale:

You are moving to the desert – so be prepared for hot, dry summers and very mild winters. Summers, however, are not as hot as you might expect – the average daily temperature in July is 90, with the average low of 75. January’s average high is about 69 degrees, while the average low is about 39 degrees.

Scottsdale has a robust tourism industry and is home to several AAA Five-Diamond hotels and resorts, including the Canyon Suites, Fairmont Princess Resort and Spa, and the Phoenician. In addition to beautiful parks and golf courses, Scottsdale offers the most number of spas of any city in the US. Major employers in Scottsdale include Scottsdale Healthcare, General Dynamics, the Mayo Clinic, and the Vanguard Group.

Why Scottsdale Apartments Are Hot:

Scottsdale has been named one of America’s “best-run” cities, one of the nation’s safest cities, one of the best places to live, one of the best places to raise children, and one of the top places to retire. It is also considered home to one of the nation’s best arts festivals – the Scottsdale Arts Festival – as well as one of the top culinary festivals, the Scottsdale Culinary Festival. Hikers will appreciate the Taliesin Overlook, considered one of the best hiking trails, and the best rock climbing can be found at the West Corner of Tom’s Thumb in the McDowell Mountains.

With so many accolades – not to mention fantastic neighborhoods, terrific nightlife, and more than 100 museums to explore – Scottdale apartments are very hot! And with its proximity to Phoenix – not to mention some of Arizona’s best national parks –apartments in Scottsdale sizzle!
