Fernwood Road forms the north eastern border, and McGehee Road makes up the southern border. The north east boundary lies just east of Warrenton Road and Old Farm Hill. Carter Road Hill divides the neighborhood in half lengthwise. The neighborhood is a combination of residential homes, apartment buildings, businesses, and commercial properties.

Students in the area may attend one of many schools in the vicinity of the Brentwood neighborhood. A few of the schools include the Montgomery Academy, Dannelly Elementary School, Vaughn Road Elementary, Green Gate School, Bear Elementary School, Whitfield Kindergarten, Lee High School, Huntingdon College, Troy University, and Alabama State University.
