Braun Station, San Antonio Neighborhood

Braun Station is a neighborhood that sits near the outer edges of northwest San Antonio, Texas. The community is comprised of two areas, Braun Station West and Braun Station East. Guilbeau Road is to the south, Old Tezel Road is to the west, and Braun Road is to the north. The eastern border is at Nani Falcone Park.

The Braun name is historically significant to the area, as is seen here and throughout the surrounding vicinity. The Brauns migrated to America from Bricken, Germany in 1862. Four of the Braun children became founding members of Zion Lutheran Church. Theodore Braun, a grandchild to the original immigrants – and son to one of these founding members – grew up to own a ranch called Braun Station, hence the name and location of this neighborhood. This was the ranch.

Now, Braun Station’s residents are close to loop 1604 and only minutes from downtown San Antonio. The Braun Station West Homeowner’s Association gives locals a choice of areas to entertain themselves locally. Brigadoon Park on Brigadoon Road is a sizeable area for playground activities, picnics, tennis and more. Brigadoon Pool is here, too. Tezel Road is home to a similar area, offering the Tezel Clubhouse, Recreation Area, and Pool.

Braun Station East offers its own facilities. The Braun Station East Clubhouse is located on Knighthood, just south of Braun Road. The association offers swimming, tennis, basketball, a playground, along with its lovely clubhouse.

Right next door, Nani Falcone Park covers 65.51 acres and is run by the San Antonio Department of Parks and Recreation. Disc golf is another popular activity here.
